Piasco, Italy –
Salvi Harps, synonymous with instruments of exceptional beauty and unparalleled sound quality for more than 50 years will introduce three new models at the World Harp Congress to be held in Amsterdam from July 17-24. They include the Arion SG, Daphne 46SE and the Eco Electroacoustic harps. In addition, a selection of harps from the current exhibition of the
Museo dell’Arpa Victor Salvi, "The Harp from the Congo to Chicago: traveling among sounds, cultures and traditions," will be on display during the Congress.
"We are very excited about these three fine new instruments," says Marco Ghibaudo general manager of Salvi Harps. "They fulfill a range of harpists needs from the elegance, maneuverability and excellent sound of the new ArionSG, which is ideal for the professional, to the new Daphne 47SE the most complete, semi-grand student harp made by Salvi, to the new Echo Electroacoustic model ideal for pop, jazz and classic harpists."
Salvi Harps continue to be made in the Piedmont region of Italy in the time-honored tradition of old-world craftsmanship long identified with this region. They remain in the forefront of technological advances in harpmaking through the innovations first introduced over the years by Victor Salvi and continued today.
The Restoration Laboratory of Salvi Harps offers a comprehensive evaluation and restoration service for antique instruments. Under the direction of a specially trained master craftsman, each harp is delicately examined to determine whether it is possible to be restored to its original form and if so, to begin the careful process of its restoration. "With advance notice, we look forward to providing a personalize tour of this facility to interested harpists," says Ghibaudo. Among the instruments restored by the Salvi Restoration Laboratory include a signed Naderman harp (1783) used in the film Marie-Antoinette (2006) directed by Sofia Coppola and staring Kirsten Dunst; and the early 19th century 43-string Erard harp owned by Lily Laskine.
"The Harp from the Congo to Chicago: traveling among sounds, cultures and traditions," currently on display at the Museo dell’Arpa Victor Salvi features 50 unique harps from the museum’s collection. It will be on display until the end of the year. In addition to music, the exhibition highlights the art, anthropology and origins of these fine instruments representing examples from Africa, Burma (Myanmar), South America, Europe and the United States – some dating back to the 18th century. The Victor Salvi Museum located in Piasco, Italy, is the only museum of its kind devoted exclusively to the harp, its music, history and the art of harpmaking.
