Piasco, Italy – The Victor Salvi Museum (Piasco, Italy) and Salvi Harps will participate in the 28th International Tourism Exchange (BIT), scheduled to take place at the Milan Fair from February 21-24, 2008. This major event, the largest exhibition in the world devoted to Italian tourism, is open to travel and tourism professionals worldwide. On the weekends the fair is open to the general public.
"We were honoured to be invited to participate in BIT for the first time this year," says Marco Ghibaudo, the museum’s director and chairman of Salvi Harps based in Piasco, one of the world’s leading harpmakers. "The Victor Salvi Museum and Salvi Harps are proud to be included in such a distinguished roster of cultural and corporate exhibitors seeking to expand tourism in Italy. Through our participation we hope to introduce visitors to the Piedmonte region – long known for its fine wines, scenic beauty and excellent craftsmanship – it is also an ideal destination for cultural tourism."
A Salvi Orchestra EX, 47 string harp will be on display during the International Tourism Exchange.
The Victor Salvi Museum
The Victor Salvi Museum, located at via Rossana 7 in Piasco (Italy), is built on top of the Salvi Harps factory – one of the world’s leading makers of fine musical instruments. It is the only museum of its kind devoted exclusively to the harp, its music, history and the art of harpmaking. The museum’s current exhibition, "The Harp from the Congo to Chicago: traveling among sounds, cultures and traditions," features 50 unique harps from its collection. The exhibition will be on display through the end of the year. In addition to music, the collection will also highlight the art, anthropology and origins of these fine instruments.
The Victor Salvi Museum features a performance space, music archive and a glass-enclosed gallery overlooking the Salvi Harps factory, which allows visitors an opportunity to observe craftsmen in the process of manufacturing new harps. Exhibitions change annually.
