  News European Harp Competition - Cardiff, UK - July 18th to July 23rd 2007

EUROPEAN HARP COMPETITION CARDIFF - JULY 18-23 2007

PROFESSIONAL COMPETITION
(Competitors must be under 30 years of age on 23rd July 2007)

STAGE I
A balanced programme of up to 20 minutes in length

STAGE 2
A varied programme of up to 30 minutes duration to include Santa Fé Suite - William Mathia

STAGE 3
Set work : Ravel - Introduction and Allegro and one contrasting piece not exceeding 12 minutes. No piece from previous rounds may be repeated.

1st Prize: Grand Concert Harp – kindly donated by Salvi Harps,
2nd Prize £2,000

SENIOR HARP COMPETITION
(Competitors must be under 21 years of age on 23rd July 2007)

STAGE I
A balanced programme of up to 20 minutes duration to include: John Parry: Lesson No.1 in D major (Sonata No.1) – Any edition

STAGE 2
A varied programme of up to 15 minutes duration to include one piece written after 1950.

1st Prize: £2,000,
2nd Prize: £1,000

JUNIOR HARP COMPETITION
(Competitors must be under 16 years of age on 23rd July 2007)

STAGE I
A balanced programme not exceeding 15 minutes in duration.
To include The Minstrels' Adieu to his Native Land by John Thomas [Adlais] omitting repeats.

STAGE 2
A varied programme not exceeding 12 minutes which may include one piece only from the previous round.

1st Prize £500,
2nd Prize: £250
