The Victor Salvi Foundation

Julia Salvi has had a lifelong commitment to the arts. A native of Colombia, she has devoted her life to bringing music and the cultural arts to new audiences worldwide. Growing up among some of the greatest cultural icons of Latin America -- the writer, Gabriel Garcia Márquez; artists such as Fernando Botero, Enrique Grau and David Manzur; the noted violinist and conductor, Luis Biava and renowned conductor, Jaime Leon, among others, she was inspired to make the arts her life's work. Julia's most ambitious project to date is the upcoming Cartagena, II International Festival de Music, planned for January 5-12 2008, in her native Colombia. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian, Julia Salvi has become an unofficial ambassador to the international world of music and art.

Soon after graduating from Pontifica Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, with a major in business, she moved to Europe where she has lived ever since.

The wife of Victor Salvi, founder of Salvi Harps, Julia has been instrumental over the years in directing the growth of the company from a small atelier which produced a limited number of harps each year under the watchful eye of its founder, to it becoming one of the world's leading producers of fine harps. Today, Salvi Harps are recognized by professional musicians worldwide for their remarkable sound qualities and outstanding craftsmanship.

As the President of the Victor Salvi Foundation, Julia oversees the philanthropic activities of the foundation, which include the sponsorship and promotion of numerous international harp performances and competitions; promotion of the competition winners in their debut recitals and their debut recordings; commissioning and publication of new harp music; support for educational and research projects related to the harp and its music, and the management of the most comprehensive collection of antique harps in the world, "Three Centuries of Harpmaking," on permanent display in the Victor Salvi Museum in Piasco, Italy.
